Genuine Leadership For 60 Years
Teleflex Marine’s 60 years in recreational boating is marked by leadership in superior controls and steering. We introduced ourselves with our innovative, market-leading mechanical remote control that was soon part of a wide array of boats. In the 1960s, we developed tachometers and flow meters, which evolved into instrument panels that enhanced the operator’s control of the boat. In 1962, we introduced the iconic “Big-T,” our revolutionary mechanical steering line. With no rope & pulley or tiller arm steering, Big-T was soon standard equipment from most major boat builders In the U.S. — a “boating milestone,” according to Boating Industry magazine.
Over time, we offered engine hourmeters, water speedometers, gauges for fuel level, oil pressure and water temperature gauge, plus voltmeters, ammeters, power trim indicators and vacuum gauges. In the late ‘60s, our eye-catching instrument dashboards became Industry standards. In the 1970s, our “Uniflow Valve” helped hold rudders in place at all times, and the “System 10” provided affordable hydraulic steering to small-boat owners. Boating Industry called System 10 another industry milestone.
Teleflex Marine’s innovative leadership continued through the 1980s and ‘90s: High-performing, lower-priced rack-and-pinion steering. The innovative, high-end Tilt Steering system, which eventually accounted for about half of all mechanical steering sold to boat builders. And the following innovations continued into the 21st Century:
We are still focused on innovation and technology, and we show the way to leading-edge solutions in steering, shift and throttle. We provide engine and drive parts, electronic technology for more powerful engines, and real research and development. Our innovation is Indisputable. Teleflex Marine Is proud to be serving the recreational boating Industry today after 60 years.
